Snails

みなさんこんにちは！　Hello everyone!

今日はカタツムリについてです。
Today is about snails.

カタツムリは野菜などを食べてしまうので、駆除する必要があります。
They eat vegetables, so we need to bug them.

私の農場で、カタツムリが好んでよく食べるのが、このルバーブという葉野菜です。
In the farm, they like and eat rhubarb in particular.

白い小さなつぶつぶ見えますか？これはカタツムリの赤ちゃん。
Can you see small white rounds? Those are baby snails.

慣行農業なら農薬を撒いて、はいおわり。でも有機農業ではそうはいきません。
For conventional farming, sprinkle pesticides and done. But cannot for organic.

なのでカタツムリを一匹一匹手で集めていきます。
So we collect snails one by one by hands.

箱に入れて集めていくのですが、みんな動くのでさあ大変(笑)
Collect them into a box, but they move to everywhere! haha

カタツムリトラップを作ることもあります。
We also make a snail trap.

手で集めたカタツムリはどうなるのかと言うと...,ニワトリたちが食べます！
（カタツムリトラップに引っかかったカタツムリはニワトリに食べさせません。）
Those snails which collected by hands are going to be...food for chooky!
(Snails in the snail trap are not going to be food.)
