Cackleberries

みなさんこんにちは！　Hello everyone!

今日は、バイオダイナミック農法（有機農法）でニワトリを飼育し卵を販売している、サンタリア農家に１日研修に行ったことについて、書きたいと思います。
Today I am writing about one day training at Santalia Farm which raises chickens for eggs by bio-dynamic, a method of organic farming.

まず１日に１・２回卵を回収します。2,000羽以上のニワトリがいるので、回収に２時間くらいかかります。
Collect eggs once or twice a day. There are more than 2,000 chickens so takes about 2 hours.

赤ちゃんを作ろうと必死に動かないのもいます。ニワトリが増えすぎてしまうので、そこから無理矢理追い出します。
Some chickens want to have babies, but they increase too much, so we kick them out.

次に卵を全て洗い、タオルで汚れを拭いていきます。洗うのにはこの卵ウォッシュマシーンが登場します！ヒビが入っているもの・殻が弱いものなどは、この段階で選別されます。
Wash eggs all and wipe dirts off. Use the egg wash machine! Eggs which have cracks or weak shells are sorted at this stage.

そしてさらに光を当てて、検査していきます。内側のヒビや、白身、黄身も全て確認します。
Also inspect them by light to find inside cracks, bad albumen and yolk.

それをクリアした卵たちは重さで分けられ、パック詰めされていきます。
These eggs which pass tests are divided by weight and packed.

そんなこんなでもう夕方。ご飯の時間です。麦に４日間水をやり、少し芽が出てきているものをあげます。この方が普通の麦より栄養価が高いそうです。
At evening, time of dinner! Feed them weeds which are watered for 4days and have small roots.　These are higher nutrition than normal ones.

これがその麦を作る機械です。３０分に一度スプリンクラーで水をかけます。
This is the weeds maker. It waters them once 30mins.

全速力で追いかけてきます(笑)
They follow us at full speed haha

そして小屋へは勝手に戻ります！
They come back to barns arbitrarily!

卵の工程を見たのは初めてだったので、とても良い経験になりました。
My first time watching a whole egg process, so it's good experience.

日本ではなかなか見ることのできない、「放し飼い」の方法を知ることができました。
Learned "range" which has not seen very much in Japan.
